Dear Parents,


Only 3 days left, I'm so sad that our adventures have come to an end, but I know that your child will have many more fun-filled learning and exploring ahead of them.

  • End of Year Class Party - Friday, May 29th

    • Your child is welcome (not required) to come dressed in the best Luau wear. Please make sure that the attire is school appropriate.
  • Auction 
    • If you would still like to donate a bigger item for our class auction. Please donate by Thursday. The auction will take place on Friday. Again thank you to parents that have donated.

Good Evening

Dear Parents,

     The last two weeks are here! We will be busy reviewing, learning fun things about the ocean and Hawaii. I am still trying to get the count on the numbers for the party. A sign-up list will be posted tomorrow night.

     Since Wednesday, we've been celebrating the last days of school with a special surprise. We still have 1 surprise left and the last 5 days will be posted. Check what to bring on specific days to help prepare your child for the coming surprises...
  • Wednesday, 05/20 - Place a pair of sunglasses in their backpack!
  • Thursday, 05/21 - Please send your child with a sack lunch for a picnic outside or in the classroom.
  • Friday, 5/22 - Non-Academic
  • Monday, 5/25 - Building Closed
  • Tuesday, 5/26 - Bring your favorite board game or card game - No electronics
  • Wednesday, 5/27 - Bring bubbles
  • Thursday, 5/28 - It's one last surprise!


 We had an ice cream party on Friday for reaching 1,000 points on SRC!!!

 The students did a fantastic job reading their poems.

 I am very proud of all the poems the students wrote. I hope they shared their poetry folder with you over the weekend. They all did a really awesome job!

Dear Parents,

   Thank you to all the parents who took the time out of the busy schedule for Parent Teacher Conferences. It was really nice talking to you and catching up on how your child is going in class. I wish everyone the best of luck next year. Please let me know if you still have any questions, comments or concerns. This last month is sure to past quickly.

   Don't forget this week is the SAT test.

   No spelling or vocabulary test this week. 

   This week will be filled with reviewing past concepts and some fun extra stuff thrown in.
  
ANNOUNCEMENTS/REMINDERS:
  • Math Worksheets (Test - Monday, May 11)
  • Stanford Achievement Test - Monday (May 4) through Friday (May 8)
    • Please be sure your child comes to school well-rested and on-time this week.
    • Morning snack will be provided between testing. Your child is still more than welcome to bring their own snack.
    • Testing is scheduled to be completed everyday before our scheduled lunch. If a student needs additional time for a section of a test, they will continue testing after lunch. Or make it up on Friday.
    • Thank you for all the parents that signed-up for a special snack during the week of our testing.

 Dear Parents,

      
     Last week we started our Beach Buck system. So far it seems to be a hit and some of the students really love getting paid for their jobs. I want to say thank you to those parents who have donated to the class store. I am truly grateful! If anyone else would like to donate we will need some bigger items for the end of the year auction. I would also like to say a big thank you to any parents who have donated snack or time to the classroom this year. It really means a lot!




  • Information on Market Day was sent home on Friday. Please ask if you have any questions at all.

    • Testing will be on Monday, May 4th through Friday, May 8th.
    • In the Stanford Test, a student is tested on various subjects such as reading comprehension, math problem-solving, language, spelling, listening, comprehension, science, and social science.

     Thankfully the rain held off on Friday and we got to have a wonderful field trip. We all wished we could have had a few more hours to see the monkeys and the reptile house. Thankfully we got a glimpse of a gorilla eating in the new exhibit. And I think quite a few children found a new favorite bird the shoebill stork.

  • Houston Zoo Field Trip (Friday, April 17th)
    • Due to the classroom size and safety regulations, only students and teachers will be allowed to participate in the 45-minute class. However, parents are more than welcome to join in all other zoo activities. Please note that parents will need to purchase tickets separately. 
    • Don't forget to wear your green field-trip shirt to school and to bring a sack lunch in a SMALL back pack. I strongly suggest a SMALL back pack and not a shoulder bag, as they will be walking around the zoo.

  I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. All the students did a great job on their reading fair projects. I will upload the photos tonight along with some pictures of the Easter Egg Hunt.

    • If you did not bring in your child's plain washed white or green t-shirt yet, please do so by Wednesday the 8th.

    • The elementary classes will be having field-trip in April to the Houston Zoo. The cost of the field trip is $17 (Due ASAP) and this includes both admission to the zoo and a 45-minute class. Due to the classroom size and safety regulations, only students and teachers will be allowed to participate in the 45-minute class. However, parents are more than welcome to join in all other zoo activities. Please note that parents will need to purchase tickets separately.

*Please note that one of the titles does have another name for a donkey. It is towards the bottom of the list. This is a great resource for your child to read fables. Always monitor what your child is reading on the website if you do not want them to be exposed to this form of the word.*

Dear Parents,

     Please read the following announcements and reminders carefully.

     No homework this week. Finish up project and study vocabulary and spelling.

     Don't forget the Reading Fair Projects are due on Wednesday. Please send a change of clothes (school uniform) that your child can change into after the reading fair. 

     The SAT test has been moved. It will now be the week of May 4th - 8th.

 ANNOUNCEMENTS/REMINDERS:

    • The elementary classes will be having field-trip in April to the Houston Zoo. The cost of the field trip is $17 (Due April 2nd) and this includes both admission to the zoo and a 45-minute class. However, parents are more than welcome to join in all other zoo activities. Please note that parents will need to purchase tickets separately.
  • EASTER CLASS PARTY - Thursday, April 2nd
    • Click HERE to sign-up for a food item and/or to volunteer for the class party.
  • EGG HUNT - Thursday, April 2nd
    • Please bring in 13 goody-filled eggs and a basket/bag to put your collected eggs. Candy is not the only thing you can put inside, but if you are putting candy... NO PEANUTS or PEANUT BUTTER PLEASE!!! We have allergies to these in our classroom.
    • Also, please simple label (permanent marker will do) all plastic eggs. Numbered from 1 though 13.
  • STANFORD TESTING - Monday (May 4th) through Friday (May 8th)
    • Testing will be on Monday, April 4th through Friday, April 8th. The fee for the test is $35 and needs to be paid by March 30th April 6th (extended). 
    • In the Stanford Test, a student is tested on various subjects such as reading comprehension, math problem-solving, language, spelling, listening, comprehension, science, and social science.

Early Weekly Update

 Important Notes
  • Please check green folders for Brain Checks and a review to study for the plant test on Thursday.
  • The rest of the graded papers will come home tomorrow.
  • Please make sure your child brings an armadillo fact. They will need that for computer time on Thursday. 
  • I have told the students that once we hit 1,000 points total as a class on Scholastic Reading Counts, they will be rewarded with some type of party. Make sure they are taking test at home.

  • Congratulations to our Classroom Spelling Bee Representatives - Wyatt, Milan, and Eric! They will continue onto the Finals which will be on Thursday, February 26th.
  • State Report - Due: Monday, March 2
    • Your child should be able to do most of the report on their own. I suggest using ducksters.com
    • Your child should be the one filling everything out in their very best handwriting. They should also have complete sentences.
    • Pictures do not have to be drawn, they can be printed out. If drawn, need to be colored.
  • Don't forget to Review, Sign, and Return Progress Reports by Wednesday, February 25th.
  • Thursday - February 26th - Wear your Spirit Shirts!
  • Friday - February 27th - Go Texan Day! Wear your best rodeo outfit! We will be making a special snack of chili.

Friday Update

  • State Report                  Due: Monday, March 2
    • Your child is coming home with a state report. 
    • They have already been assigned a state.
    • Your child should be able to do most of the report on their own. I suggest using ducksters.com
    • Your child should be the one filling everything out in their very best handwriting. They should also have complete sentences.
    • Pictures do not have to be drawn, they can be printed out. If drawn, need to be colored.
  • Progress Reports were sent home today. Please sign and return by Wednesday.

Quick Notes

  • Kindness Bingo
    • Due: Tuesday, March 3rd 
    • This is extra homework. It is not required, but I would like your child to participate. Students who return it will get something special..
  • Friendly Letters 
    • Your child is bringing home a graded friendly letter. I strongly suggest sending those. If the letter is to someone in the class room, you may return it in an envelope and I will pass them out.
  • Does anyone have a couple of old rags (washcloth size) they would like to donate? They would be used to wipe off our math and reading/language arts center boards.

Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

Read your child's planner every night. They might have extra homework they need to complete or even bonus assignment.

    • Be share to read their planner. They will have random acts they need to complete throughout the week.
    • Tonight's homework is they need to give a compliment to 3 people whom are not in our class. They need to write down who it was and what was said.

Parents are welcome to send their child with these cards or small treats on Friday (02/13), but please make sure you have enough for everyone! There are 13 students in our class. 100th Day!!!!!

Wednesday, February 4th will be our 100th day of school. I have lots of fun activities planned for the class. We will be making a 100 piece snack. If you would like to sign up to donate please click on the following link. Remember we only have 13 students, so keep that in mind when buying the snack. 


Each student needs to bring 100 of any item of their choosing.
1. All 100 items must be the same thing.
2. All 100 items must fit into one gallon sized bag.  

Be sure to ask your child how Spanish went with their new teacher.
The students will be doing Karate Thursday afternoons in after school.
